“It got me excited about saving money, and also investing it.” Student.
BEYOND THE BOTTOM LINE
Relevant source materials accompany the simulation to ensure students make smart and socially responsible investment choices. Students begin by making an investment in an ficticious company and tracking its progress. Throughout the program they discover various investment techniques and learn to balance the relationship between risk and return. In teams, they work together to build a portfolio online by selecting from numerous stock options to compete in the online simulation.
The on-line simulation reinforces Alberta Learning’s mandate to increase the use of technology within the classroom. Students trade REAL stocks in a safe SIMULATED environment. The earning potential is unlimited and the best performing ISP portfolios are awarded top honors. The philanthropy focus encourages student to look beyond the bottom line.
