Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta (JASA) is a not-for-profit charitable organization with a mission to inspire and educate young Canadians to experience free enterprise, understand business and economics and develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills.  JASA has developed an outstanding reputation with donors, volunteers and the educational system.   The strength of these relationships permits JASA to deliver business and finance programs to more than 20,000 Grade 5-12 students each year involving 1,100 volunteers from the corporate sector.   www.jasouthalberta.org

Overall Purpose

The Manager, High School Programs ensures professional, high quality program delivery of relevant, contemporary and responsive programs to young people in High School throughout Southern Alberta.

The scope of this position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Overseeing the successful delivery of Company Program After-School as well as other High School Programs as identified.
  • Oversight of program targets and performance measurement as required.
  • On-site supervision and support and regular communication to volunteer advisors and student participants
  • Recruitment, training and support of volunteer advising teams
  • Timely and complete volunteer screening and security checks
  • recruitment of students
  • Arranging appropriate venues for after-school program delivery
  • Planning and impletmenting program events such as Officer Training, the Business Development Workshop, Trade Show and Celebration of Achievement Awards Event
  • Support teacher requested In-School program delivery

Adminster all Reporting aspects including:

  • Maintenance of accurate records of volunteer advisors and student participants
  • Preparation of monthly program reports
  • Completion of Corporate Sponsor Reports
  • Preparation of other reports i.e. inventory, budget, final program report (including recommendations for development and expansion)
  • Updating resource and marketing materials

Participation in Program Management Team:

  • Liase with School Boards, Alberta Education and key corporate contacts as required
  • Assistance in delivery of other JASA programs and events as required
  • Contributing to the overall success of JASA
  • Qualifications: Required education, experience and knowledge:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in education, business, career development or related field
  • Knowledge and interest in Business and New Venture planning and development
  • Experience in volunteer management, training, facilitation and/or event management
  • Marketing, organizational, interpersonal/customer service experience
  • Reliable vehicle and regular transportation is required
  • Evening work required (3 days per week from October-March)
  • Occasional Saturdays (2-3 times per year)
  • Qualifications: Desirable, experience and knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Business Development
  • Knowledge of the non-profit sector
  • IT savvy: web, excel, video production
  • Adult education or facilitation
  • Career development programming
  • Volunteer Mangement
  • Event Planning background
  • Fund-raising experience
  • Skills and Attributes

      Valid Alberta driver’s license is required

      This is a full time salaried position.
